The Sex Ed You Deserved, According to SIECUS.

Not the sex ed that left out half the people and all the real questions.

Let’s rewind. You’re 13. You’re sitting in a classroom that smells like pencil shavings and fear. Someone rolls in a TV cart. A grainy VHS promises to tell you “everything you need to know about your changing body.” What you get: a diagram, a metaphor involving a flower, and the subtle implication that pleasure is… not really the point.

Fast-forward. You’re an adult now. You’ve had sex. Maybe good sex, maybe forgettable sex, maybe confusing sex. You’ve dealt with mismatched libidos, weird first times, partners who didn’t listen, partners who did. You've had to Google things at 2am. You've had to unlearn shame in real time. You’ve probably wished, at some point, that someone had just told you the truth.

That’s where SIECUS comes in. Since 1964, they’ve been working to make sex ed actually educational—and not a half-hearted attempt to scare teenagers away from their own bodies.

SIECUS advocates for something radical: that sex ed should be evidence-based, inclusive, honest, and ongoing. That talking about sexuality isn’t dangerous—what’s dangerous is keeping people in the dark.

They fight for legislation that supports comprehensive sex education. They push back when schools try to ban anything “too graphic” (read: medically accurate, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, or realistic). They remind policymakers that silence doesn’t equal safety—and that censorship never kept anyone healthy.

And they do it all with the belief that sex ed is a public good—not a parental headache or political bargaining chip.

because here's the truth:Sex doesn’t begin with puberty and end with marriage. It’s not a phase, or a milestone, or a box to check. It’s part of how we move through the world. It shows up in how we connect, how we touch, how we advocate for ourselves and others.

And no matter your age, orientation, or experience, you deserve access to the tools, language, and support to understand it all.

That’s why maude supports the work of SIECUS—because the more we know, the better sex (and everything that comes with it) gets.

Celebrate Sex Ed for All Month with our limited-edition merch, created in partnership with SIECUS to support the movement for comprehensive, inclusive sex education for all.

Proceeds benefit SIECUS, dedicated to advancing sex education through advocacy, policy, and coalition building.
