Coffee and alcohol have a complicated relationship; true frenemies, that play nice when you least expect. Our buzzy cocktail is a prime example that, much like the espresso martini, a caffeinated negroni is an ultimate nightcap. This week's recipe comes straight from Robby, sales director, and longtime beverage expert, at the Los Angeles-based spirit brand, AMASS. Be sure to try a pared-down non-alcoholic version.

ingredients:
1.5 oz AMASS dry gin
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth
1 bar spoon (1/2 tsp or less) freeze-dried coffee
orange peel, for garnish
how to do it:
Stir all ingredients together in a mixing glass without ice, until coffee is dissolved (approximately 10 seconds). Add ice and stir for 10-15 seconds. Strain into rocks glass over one big ice cube, or on the rocks. Garnish with flamed or fresh orange peel.
for a zero-proof option:
the Nogroni
2 oz strong hibiscus tea
1 oz of. your favorite non-alc spirit
0.75 oz simple. syrup
1 bar spoon freeze-dried coffee
