As a part of our maudern people series, we asked San Diego-based visual designer Nathan Mueller for insights on modern intimacy. Nathan builds brand identities and runs a design and lifestyle newsletter called Currently Into.
What is your relationship status? Happily in love for five years.
How do you make time for intimacy?
Daily walks along the ocean or around the neighborhood allows us to not only get fresh air but connect and check-in with each other.
How has your perspective on your home/space changed?
My home has always been my center, my comfort, and where I am most creative. After having spent so much time at home recently, I am constantly rearranging my space to by swapping out artwork, revisiting books in my collection or adding fresh flowers to keep things new and stimulating.
What is a new activity you are planning to try?
Meditation. Since quarantine, days and time have been a blur and my sleeping schedule is all out of balance. The Headspace app has so many great meditations, sleep casts and music to help me get a better night's sleep.
Do you have a book or movie on your list while home?
I recently started Jonathan Safran Foer's latest book We Are the Weather; a look into society and climate change and how saving the planet begins with what we eat—and don't eat—for breakfast. The show I have been currently into is Home. A new series exclusively on Apple TV+, each episode of Home features groundbreaking ideas and stories behind the world’s most imaginative dwellings across the globe.
