Having sex is one thing, but having a hot daydream is a whole different ball game. Our minds are able to wander off into a different realm of exploration and desire, often imaginative and interesting. Or so we thought.
According to Justin Lehmiller, a research fellow at Indiana University’s Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction and the author of the blog Sex and Psychology, most Americans are having really boring fantasies.
In his research, summarized in his book Tell Me What You Want, Lehmiller found that 9 out of 10 Americans think about their current partner. And even when they got past the same ol' missionary, their thoughts were just about trying a new sex act or engaging in one of their favorites.
Basically, our fantasies are the equivalent to just “spicing things up.”
