A musical romantic-comedy set in the early 1900s as hollywood shifts from silent to talking films. Actors Don and Lina have been leads together many a times but only Don has the voice for the latest role in a musical comedy. Drama builds as a new young actress is brought in to be the Don’s vocal match.

Bridges of Madison County, 1995

Shortly after their elderly mother passes, two adult children begin to sort through her life stumbling upon a relationship that never was from many decades ago. The film flashes backward to a National Geographic photographer visiting a small town—meeting a young married mother, whose children and husband are away. The children unearth a mother’s longing and search for her lost love, finding hope in their own lives.

A Single Man, 2009

Set in 1960s Los Angeles, English Professor George Falconer (Firth), finds himself unable to cope with the sudden loss of his boyfriend, Jim. Falconer’s journey is a unique depiction of how fraught homosexuality was in this era.

Tortured and unmotivated author finds himself in the midwest on his book tour. Those in his life have blended together—even their faces in his own mind, creating a mundane existence around him. He meets a woman at the hotel he is staying at and becomes invigorated with her—spending a night with her and being unfaithful to his wife. When he returns home, he is still captivated by his interaction.
